Brush Collection to Commence in April

Brush Collection has been scheduled for 2018. Two collections will take place; one in the Spring and one in late summer. Brush shall include the pruning of trees, shrubs, bushes or vines, but exclude grass clippings, flowers, weeds, tree trunks, stumps, and leaves. If the excluded items are mixed with the brush, the material will not be collected. All brush must be piled neatly at the edge of the property and cannot be placed in any roadway or sidewalk. Brush should not exceed 4-6 feet in length, and should not be any larger than 6 inches in diameter. Brush should be kept a minimum of five (5) feet from utility boxes and other hazards. As a reminder for those residents who utilize a private contractor, the contractor is responsible for the removal of the brush from the property. Each street will be collected once. Township Code states “All brush shall be stored on a resident’s property and shall not be placed at the roadside earlier than 10 days preceding the Monday of the scheduled collection week.” Brush placed at the street for collection outside of these collection dates will not be collected. MEDFORD COMMONS BOARD OF DIRECTORS DRAFT MEETING MINUTES February 12, 2018

Approved January 9, 2018 Minutes

Reviewed oral proposal from residents of 4 Farmington Court regarding conversion from oil to gas. Board indicated that a formal request needed to be made including evidence of permits from the town and indemnification of repairs that might be needed to commons property. In addition the Board informed the residents that adjacent property owners would need to be notified.

Approved the Treasurer’s report for January 2018. Dues are current for all but 4 properties and that a notice would be sent regarding past due fines. Board member Conley agreed to pursue with Public Service one of the nine bills which is higher than normal.

Architecture Committee agreed to submit dates for the annual home inspection and the next meeting as well as providing the names of non board members who would be part of the inspection teams.

Environment Committee submitted bids for grounds maintenance work that needs to be done in 2018 including the removal of gumballs, lake bush pruning, maintenance around transformers. Steele’s proposal of about $4,200 was almost 50 percent less than ProLawn Board. Board discussed proposals and subsequently approved Adam Steele’s proposal.

It was noted that while fees have been paid, our vendor had not yet filed the permits with the state regarding lakes treatment

Board approved removal of tree with partially uprooted roots behind 2&3 Longhill.

Board member Johnson agreed to pursue with resident at 10 Foxborough regarding a request to plant a tree near a location where a large gumball was removed. Resident is paying for the tree

Saturday Hours for Public Works Yard

Medford Township is proud to announce Saturday hours for the Public Works Yard located at 2 Commonwealth Drive. The yard is open every third Saturday each month from 8 am to 1 pm, excluding holidays. In addition, they have added additional dates from April through October, with the exception of August. The yard will be open as follows:

Free Shredding Events

Need to “SHRED” a few pounds?????

Protect yourself and your family from identity theft and financial fraud while taking steps to help the Township’s Recycling Program.

The Neighborhood Services Department’s Clean Communities Program will be hosting three (3) FREE Shredding events for residents on:

Saturday, March 17th,
Saturday, May 19th, and
Saturday, September 15th

The shredding truck will be available from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Municipal Garage, located at 2 Commonwealth Drive. (off of Gravelly Hollow Road behind Bob Meyer Park)

Residents may bring up to 10 boxes or bags of files to be shredded on site. An experienced operator will be present in a highly secure, mobile shredding unit where your confidential materials will be shredded as you watch. Please bring paper only; plastic bags, metal, binders and binder clips cannot be shredded. (Paper clips and staples are acceptable)

Please note that no commercial shredding will be allowed.

100% of the paper is recycled and is applied to Medford’s recycling totals, for which we obtain grants from the State of NJ under the Clean Communities Program and Recycling Tonnage Grant.

As these dates are the 3rd Saturday of the month, the Garage is open from 7 am till 12 noon to accept all other waste and recycling materials.

Medford Council Seeking Residents for Environmental Affairs Committee

The Township Council is extending an open invitation to residents interested in serving on the Township’s Environmental Affairs Advisory Committee (EAAC). Two vacancies have occurred due to the resignation of current members. More information about Board service can be found on the Boards & Committees Page of the Township website at www.medfordtownship.com. (Link is on the Home Page)

Residents interested in an appointment to the EAAC shall complete the Application for Appointment to Citizen Advisory Boards that can be found on the above website or in the Municipal Building at 17 North Main Street. This completed application, along with a brief cover letter and/or statement of qualifications to serve, must be submitted to the attention of Patricia Rackison, Manager’s Office, 17 North Main Street, Medford, New Jersey or by e-mail to prackison@medfordtownship.com. Applications should be received no later than Friday, August 11, 2017.

The EAAC Board meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday starting at 7:00 pm in the Cranberry Hall Senior Center.
