The Medford Arts Center’s annual Plein Air art contest will add a new feature – an arboretum theme. The painting contest will be held at Medford Leas on Saturday, June 7, 2014. The event is open to all artists ages 17 and under or 18 and older who work in oil, acrylics, watercolor or pen & ink. Participants can paint views in the Arboretum, natural areas along the Rancocas Creek or any Medford Leas buildings or courtyard gardens. Artists are welcome to visit Medford Leas beforehand to scout out their favorite locations. The contest is not open to photographers.
Participating artists should register at 9:00 a.m. in the Medford Leas lobby to get their painting surfaces initialed. All completed paintings must be checked in no later than 4:00 pm. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners with honorable mentions getting certificates and MAC memberships. Medford Leas is located on Route 70, about a half-mile east of the Route 541 intersection.
Medford Leas will host a wine and cheese reception following the judging, during which the awards will presented. Artists eager to hear the results may wait in Medford Leas comfortable lounge.
Entry forms will be available at the MAC or on line at www.medfordartscenter,org or at registration. There is no charge for participation.
